In an example of "gray field" and urban redevelopment, The Forum at Sunnyvale Town Center is the story of reclaiming Sunnyvale's downtown area after it was negated by a '70s-era shopping center placed at its core. Complete with a re-imagination of Sunnyvale's original city hall, the project restores the downtown's traditional layout of streets lined with mixed-use structures, including first-floor shops, a department store and a three-level theater, with offices and residential lofts in upper floors. The project will encompass 1.1 million square feet of retail space, 250,000 square feet of office space, more than 300 housing units, and 1.5 acres of open public space highlighted by breathtaking 100-foot tall redwood trees. | ||
