CLEAN ENERGY XXI Research and Learning Center Like New Amsterdam 400 years ago, the Open Fort 400 is destined to become a gateway to a new world of discovery, opportunity and progress. SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY In order to facilitate innovation in cultural, social and economic development in Amsterdam we propose on the competition site a new Research and Learning Center that called CLEAN ENERGY XXI. The Center will conduct research and experiments in all aspects of harvesting and efficient consumption of clean and sustainable energy - solar, wind, rain, tidal, waste, hydroelectricity, etc. As a model example of sustainability, the building will aim to become self sufficient in terms of energy and water consumption. The Center will also serve as an educational magnet for the local schools and the general public. The most exciting innovations in sustainable energy harvesting will be displayed and explained on site. Visitors will be able to witness and conduct many experiments themselves. INDUSTRIAL CHARACTER The Research and Learning Center with its multiple industrial features
will become a perfect match to the surrounding area. Exterior solar panels,
wind turbines, roof water collection pool, experimental waterfalls, etc.
must be incorporated as necessary features of the building exterior. The
Center will set new design standards for architects, engineers and developers.
Perception of new design aesthetics will also be promoted to general public
through the Center's prominent visual appeal. | |||
